Financial Aid
Although the costs of tuition keeps rising
across the nation, Texas A&M continues
to be an excellent value compared to other
schools. Not only is tuition relatively low
compared to other programs for in-state students,
it also is affordable for out-of-state students.
Students receiving departmental assistantships
are assessed tuition at in-state rates. Students
are eligible for summer funding.
Forms of financial aid include assistantships
and fellowships. Students who are awarded
departmental assistantships also receive medical
coverage under the University's health plan.
Texas A&M also offers Graduate Merit Fellowships,
Regents Fellowships, and other university
Fellowships to qualified applicants. Students
are nominated for these scholarships and fellowships
by the department. Currently, most incoming
students to the department are funded either
through fellowships or departmental assistantships.
Texas A&M also administers several loan
programs for students who need financial assistance.
To be considered students must meet the eligibility
requirements of the various programs, be in
good standing with the University, and be
making satisfactory academic progress. Holding
a fellowship or assistantship does not necessarily
disqualify one from obtaining an educational
loan.
