Dr. Sherecce Fields is part of the team that just received the NSF Engineering Research Center grant focused on Precise Advanced Technologies and Health Systems for Underserved Populations. After breakthrough biomarker measurements are developed during the first phase of the project, Dr. Fields will address how to use technology to change human behavior. This part of the project will enrich chronic disease management by enabling (1) objective measurement of key behaviors (diet, medication, exercise, stress); (2) patient-specific models of long-term risks of severe complications; and (3) customizable behavioral modification interventions, targeted to the specific needs of individual patients. In short, this part will convert the “Lab-on-a-wrist” created during biomarker development into a “Coach-on-a-wrist” for underserved communities. Congratulations, Sherecce!
