My area of specialization is in Clinical Child Psychology. My research interests focus on understanding STI/HIV-risk in adolescents through a health disparities perspective. Currently, I examine the role of decision making in the engagement of STI/HIV-risk behavior, primarily drug use and sexual risk behavior.
In addition to working under the direction of Dr. Sherecce Fields, I also collaborate with Matthew Johnson, Ph.D. at John’s Hopkins Medical School: Behavioral Pharmacology Research Unit. Our collaboration involves assessing the validity of the Sexual Discounting Task (SDT) to predict sexual decision making in adolescents as a means to assess HIV risk.
Furthermore, I am currently working with the Texas A&M University Public Policy Research Institute on a Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Texas Department of Public Health funded study: National HIV Behavioral Surveillance- examining HIV risk behavior in men who have sex with men (MSM).
